On Tuesday March 12th, 2019 we hosted Portland Cisco Connect event in Hilton Portland Downtown. Overall it was a very crowded event full of technical sessions focusing on Enterprise Networking, Security, Data Center & Cloud and Collaboration.
I had the privilege and awesome opportunity to open the event and introduce our keynote speaker.
The opening was about our Bridge to Possible brand campaign and how Cisco is committed to impact the live of 1B people in the next 6 years.
Cisco is investing on this initiative and the goal of the company is to be the bridge not only in technology, but also in other aspects of life so we can help others and give back to our communities and the entire world.
During my presentation I also shared the story of how the Cisco Networking Academy changed the live of so many people around the world. This is the story of Soso. How she was able to build her career with Cisco without knowing nothing about technology when she started the program. That story is very powerful and impactful. Like Soso there are a lot of people that every day make a career with Cisco and she proved that everything is possible!
Please take a look at the video of the story of Soso and NetAcad here:
In the opening session I introduced our Keynote speaker, Nick Biasini who is a threat research engineer at Talos. Nick did a great job explaining all the risks and problems the world is facing today with cybercrimes and how those type of crimes are evolving to the next level using new techniques that will caught the attention of people when is too late. During his presentation he also spoke about the different expressions of emoji that can soon be exploited for bad things.
After Nick’s keynote all the attendees break out to the different sessions we were offering in Data Center & Cloud, Security, Collaboration and Enterprise Networking and I prepared to present on Software Defined Access with the session:
Ready to automate and secure your Campus Network? Let’s take a look to DNA-Center
The session was full of engineers and the interaction of Q&A was very intense and well received by our customers! Lot of questions to answer around how we can implement SDA in a brownfield and greenfield deployment, roadmap, production phases, why one protocol or another, etc.
At the end of the day we had a great happy hour sponsored by one of our partners and it was a nice moment to close the event socializing, sharing the highlight of the sessions and laughing with our customers.
Thanks to our customers, our teams and partners for organizing and hosting such a great conference.
See you on my next article, thanks!
